In Rome, where he remained until 1830, he made friends with the young and innovative landscape painters living in the city, including <a href=\"/artists/jean-baptiste-camille-corot\">Corot</a>, <a href=\"/artists/edouard-bertin\">Edouard Bertin</a> and <a href=\"/artists/leon-fleury\">Léon Fleury</a>. He frequently painted and sketched out of doors with them.
